Terms of Use
Effective October 3, 2026
By using Ticket Defender you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
What the service is
Ticket Defender is an AI-assisted technical review of public records for Washington State automated speed camera citations. It looks for inconsistencies in the State's own records, such as mismatched times, locations, identifiers, checklists and signatures, and shows you what it found and where.
Not legal advice
We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice or representation. Using the service does not create an attorney-client relationship. Hearing scripts and exhibit packets are drafts to help you prepare. You are responsible for checking them against the original documents and for what you say at your hearing. Consider consulting a qualified attorney.
No guarantee of results
Our findings may be incomplete or wrong. The AI can misread documents. A finding does not mean your citation will be dismissed, and finding nothing does not mean your citation is valid. We make no promise about any outcome.
Deadlines
Deadlines to pay, contest or request a hearing are set by your citation and the court. We do not track, extend or remind you of them. Read your notice carefully.
Your responsibilities
Use the service only for your own citation or with the owner's permission, and only enter information you are authorized to use. Do not misuse the service, overload it, bypass its limits, or attempt to collect data from it in bulk.
Your permission to retrieve your records
We never look up a citation unless you ask us to and give your permission. Before each check you confirm a statement on the form. By confirming it you:
- tell us the citation was issued to you, or that the person it was issued to has asked you to check it for them;
- authorize us to use the citation number and PIN you entered to sign in to the State's public citation portal on your behalf, the same way you could, and to retrieve the records for that one citation (the case dashboard, the camera operator's deployment log, and the hearing packet if it exists), which can include names, addresses, license plates, vehicle details, photographs and balances due;
- authorize us to have those records read by AI and to keep them as described in our Privacy Policy.
What the permission covers. It covers one check of one citation, for the sole purpose of finding technical defects in the State's records, showing you the evidence, and preparing your hearing materials. It is not a standing permission: we ask again for each check. We only read records. We do not pay, file, request or change anything in the portal for you, and we do not search for other citations.
Withdrawing it. You can withdraw your permission at any time and ask us to delete the records we hold about your citation (see Contact below). Withdrawing does not undo a check already run, but we will delete what we hold.
Only your own citation. Do not enter a citation number or PIN that you are not authorized to use. If you give us details for someone else's citation without their permission, you are responsible for that, and we may block access.
We record the time and version of the permission you gave with each check.
Third-party records
The records we retrieve belong to the State and its camera operator. We are not affiliated with the State of Washington, the Washington State Patrol or the Washington State Department of Transportation, and we do not control those records or the portal.
Cost
The service is currently free during our public beta. If we introduce charges, we will show the price clearly before you pay, and we will not charge you for a check in which we find no technical defects.
Disclaimers and limits of liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any outcome of a citation or hearing. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service, which is $0 during the beta.
Changes
We may change the service or these terms. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms. The effective date above shows the latest version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington.
